Organic vegetable options abound | The Packer
Kyle Vilhauer, salesman for Lakeside Organic Gardens, Watsonville, Calif., said depending on the time of year, the company produces up to 50 organic items. During the warm summer months, Lakeside Organic Gardens offers vegetable items, including eggplant, green bell peppers, red bell peppers, green beans, snap peas, zucchini squash, cucumbers and heirloom tomatoes.
New Items Coming –
Lakeside Organic Gardens is growing a couple new items this year.
“We are growing some romanesco this year, and people are loving it,” Vilhauer said. “We are also growing artichokes, hoping to have a steady year-round program.”
Vilhauer said the company has many customers asking for produce specifically for juicing. “Big juicing items are celery, spinach, kales, beets and carrots,” he said.
